Problem

Postby Niamh » Tue Mar 28, 2006 6:57 pm

I don't know if this is the right place to post it, but I've a problem with loggin in every day. I fill in my username and pasword and knock on ' remember me'. After I have done that, the forums says me, Niamh, is logged in, but I can't post until I logged again. I really don't like that, because I'm not able to see where there is posted when I was off line.. Is there anyone who knows what's going wrong?

Hi Niamh,

I used to get this problem and it flummoxed me for ages! I got round it by realising that you need to omit the 'www' in the address. Thus, update your bookmark or use this link:

http://forums.moyabrennan.com/

instead of

http://www.forums.moyabrennan.com/

That second one will appear to work, but wil give rise to this "double login" problem.

Hope that helps!

I have also a "log in" problem right now. When I come to the forum, it says that I'm still logged in (ok, maybe I forgot to log out yesterday); so I have to log out first and then log in again - but then it doesn't work properly. I have to close the forum window and do the same again.

Can someone maybe tell me what's wrong there and how to solve it?

IrishGrilM, try Angus' suggestion of ommiting the 'www' from the address bar and that should help.

Thanks Beth, it's solved now. :) I've put the site into "Favourites" now.

Sorry for posting twice in a row, but I have a signature problem. The banner that I use currently isn't showed now; I don't have any clue what's wrong there. Can maybe anyone help me out on this please? I know that I have to put the "[IMG] icons (or whatever it's called) to show a pic in my signature. But I don't know how it works anymore. I got this problem while I was posting in a topic in the "Games & Stories" subforum. The topic was loading, and when it was finished, then my signature banner got lost. :(

Thanks in advance for your help.

Use this and see if it works:

Code: Select all

Make sure the '
Code: Select all
http://
' is there.

Today I have a "Login Problem" with the forum; when I log in, then it doesn't log in me first. When I try again, it maybe works. I've tried again right now and it has worked. But I have noticed, that it shows me as "online" even when I'm logged out. :?: :? Has anyone an idea what could be wrong here and help me on this? Thanks. This problem is driving me mad - I didn't have it for months, but now - again! :(

You get logged out after a few minutes if you close the forum without "logging out" for real...
At least, that's what I think... :P

I'm not sure if this is the reason; right now it's working again. And when I leave the forum, I always log out.

There is a kind of built-in timeout on the Web anyway ..... the default is 20 minutes. If you leave a browser window open on a site for more than the setting allows, you will be logged out.

However, with a forum that stores a cookie (such as this one) you'll be logged back in immediately once you click something to go to another page on the forum. This is because the cookie saves all your login information.

A corrupt cookie can give rise to strange problems such as those described in this thread. Therefore, the first action should be to clear your cookies down and try again.

Every now and again, I'll come here from my work address and the forum will take ages to load. When it does finally load, I'll be shown as online at the bottom of the page, but I'll actually be logged out. I have to log in again if I want to use the board properly (post, send/receive PMs, etc).

Curiously enough, this only happens from work. Never from home.
