Probably Moya's version because it sounds more...er...I guess you would say warm. Enya's is beautiful too, but not as warm and Christmasy. :)

I don't know Moya's version, so I didn't vote at all. The first time I heard Enya's though, I was blown away. I had no idea that the song even existed in Irish Gaelic. And as it is one of my faveourite Christmas songs, I was quite happy to hear it sung in that beautiful language.

But actually my favourite version of it is when my Gran sings it under the Christmas tree

Now that I've heard both in their entirety, I can discuss further. I love the fact that Moya included her children in the song, that was a nice touch and I agree, it is sung in a warm fashion..Enya's is totally different, I think her voice is just gorgeous on it and it does have a certain feeling to it, but I don't think it's a bad one..it gives me the chills when she sings it..I like both versions, but Enya's slightly more still.

Argh! More choices, more favorites. I'm developing an ulcer here. :(

Ok.

Enya's.
Her voice is so ethereal and it sends chills up and down my spine. It's an inspired version of Silent Night, simple yet absolutely stunning. 8)

I've voted for Moya's version. She sings it so wonderfully... and the last part with her children it's simply magic

Would anyone by any chance know where I can get phonetics (pronunciation) for Oiche Chuin?

I'm trying to learn the Irish language and would very much like to learn to sing Silent Night (Oiche Chuin) in Irish.

Thank you very much.

Oh and I voted for Moya's! I have both on Cd but I just like Moya's voice better... no offense to any Enya fans.

I took a null vote :) because the two really are much of a muchness to me.

That's not to be negative - both versions are beautiful, but I couldn't really put one above the other.

The poll needs a third option - "Cannot decide" :)

Exactly my thoughts, Angoid. I love both versions, too. It's not easy to say someone likes Moya's version better or Enya's one.

I also love both versions, but I think I like Moya's just a little bit more... It just sounds a little bit warmer to my opinion
