...What was I going to ask?... Oh Yeah... sorry doing algebra, playing with Theo watching "Black Beuty..." and writing this All at once :lol:

Does anyone have the problem of knowing two different languages and not being able to translate something that is written? I am asking because I can hear and understand Gaelige and if you asked me what something meant like in a song, I could tell you, but if you wrote something down, I couuldn' translate it... Just wondering...

Also, If I only use the english form of braille and read lyrics I can translate stuff in braille... Is there a Gaelige braille code?

I know that was so random, and most, including myself are probably lost, but I was wondering if maybe it is because I didn't learn to read in the language,...

Hi, I voted for English in your poll because I am English, but I'm trying to learn a bit of Gaelic :lol:

I must be the only student in my school who does their French homework, while thinking in English and listening to Irish music - but hey, I like stuff like that :mrgreen:

Maybe Irish speakers out there could get together and teach the rest of us that beautiful language

I just voted English in your poll as well .... like G, I've done a little Gaeilge while in Ireland last year, but get so bust that I don't have time to do it serious justice.

The funny thing is, when I'm trying to speak one language I can often only think of the same words in a different language ..... someone says to me Go raibh maith agat and you can bet your bottom dollar that Bo yong xie will come to mind before Tá fáilte romhat.

Awaits the wisecracks ...... :lol:

I voted for Gaeilge. Although I have more practice and a larger vocab in English, my heart feels lighter and more comfortable when speaking Irish. :wink:

I voted Gaeilge, because it's the language I speak to my parents, my family, MÁIRE, most of my friends and the language I sing in. It's easier, and flows. Whereas with English, it'd be easy to speak and would flow, but I don't feel as comfortable speaking it as I do Gaeilge.

I had to vote for English, because I can't speak Gaelic. I wish I could... :cry:

At the moment I'm trying to find a way to learn it, this language sounds so amazing. When I'll understand it, I'll surely like it even more.

These links are rather helpful. Now I see that there is a way to learn it and it's just a question of time until I start. It would be so great if I could understand this language.

It seems you have the same feelings and thoughts as I had about it until I started learning ... wow, I just noticed that it's 2 1/2 years now that I'm learning Irish ... so much time has past since and I'm so glad that I kept on learning and working :wink:

I voted for English. Both aren't my first language, but English is a language I have to learn at school, and I'm not really good, but I try to be good. ( So to post on forums is good for me

) I would like to speak gaelic, but I can't. I try to learn some gaelic

I have to vote for English even it is not my mother tongue.It seems to be much easier than Gaelic. I would like to speak Gaelic fluently or even speak but it is sooo difficult. I think I need teacher for it because I am not able to read it from books without pronanciation. I never know how to read the letters. The words are long but than when I hear it it sounds like a short word even if it has many letters (I hope you understand me) :oops:

I was 15 when I started learning Irish. I fell in love with the language and though everyone thought I was crazy I stuck to it. I went to an Irish summercollege the year after and it was brilliant. I would really suggest you'd try something like that. Or have a look at my website, especially for Dutch people wanting to learn Irish. I can't garantee it is without fault though.

I also have a forum for people wanting to learn Irish. It is aiming at people who speak the Dutch language, but you are welcome to use the English. Hehe yes I am looking for new members :mrgreen:
