Gweedore Gathering 2006: Best Dates

Postby Angoid » Mon Dec 05, 2005 12:47 pm

What I've done here is to create a new poll for the dates; all of them are Saturdays so please indicate the best week for you.

For example, Nessieq has said 19th to 22nd July, so I'd expect her to check off 16th to 23rd July.

For me, any week is prolly as good as any other week.

I've made this topic sticky as well as the other one so all the "Gweedore Gathering" stuff is together; when both threads have 'expired' I can unpin them and let them vanish into the mists of time .....

I think the trouble with replacing an existing poll (modifying it to ask a new question) is that it won't remove the existing votes, thus people who have already voted will not be able to vote again. So sorry ... a new poll it is :P

Hey, angoid, I voted for August 13th - August 20th as University will be finished late next summer and I'll probably get a scholarship for four weeks to be spent in Éire during that time ... It would serve my interest so far.

Angoid,
I voted for the last week of july but also could make it the 16th through 23rd...either would work. so guess you could count me a vote on both of those...

I've just check the Earagail Arts Festival website http://www.eaf.ie/, and they're running from the 10th-23rd July 2006. So B&B bookings might be busy at that time of year, however there'll be loads going on to keep people busy (and there's usually some Brennan connection to it as well - usually Olive).

So there's some ideas for dates for everyone.

Barry.

If rumours hold fast its not just Olive that'll be having connections to it this year- but I stress they're only rumours.. but i wreckon it'd be worth avoiding that kind of time or going just after for the simple reason that if we're all hoping to book into either the same or close B&Bs it'll be difficult... I dunno. Last week of July is good for me.

Olive? Sorry but I thought she lived in Australia - or am I horribly out of touch? Someone clarify this for me :?

Oops, sorry, Deirdre maybe... the artist - let me check! Yup, Deirdre (they confused me by both being in Donegal this year), she took part in the Loinnir night on Magheraroarty Beach this year, and did something last year as well.

I really wanted to go to the beach for this show, but we were shattered from walking all day (it was at 10 o'clock at night). But from the description in the festival guide a number of artists had created these sculptures and were lit with firelight and scattered in a trail along the beach - sounded amazing, and on such an amazing beach as Magheraroarty it would have been just brill!

It does sound beautiful... but i doubt i'd be able to make it. Aside from the fact i'd have to persuade the folks, I'll most likely be having my A level mocks and modules in january of next year which, if they're anything like this years, will be hard going. It's july or nothing for me.
