Something I just noticed. The pic of the album cover only says: Moya Brennan... An Irish Christmas.. and The Vioce of Clannad..... It doesn't say anywhere 'Love Came Down'... here's hoping that there will be a new cover... Soory to say that has to be the strangest (and not in a good way) (I am refraining from using the 'U' word for fear of Ness and G LOL) album cover I have ever seen. Thank goodness that the music is good cause going by the cover, I wouldn't be buying it and that is very sorry for me to say. :|

You're being honest, that is all. I hate the cover; it is too mainstream. Yes, she is beautiful, but it looks like she is selling herself (not in that way, I mean in a way to sell the album).

This cover surprised me a bit, but to be honest: I like it!
I agree with you that it looks somehow unusual and it doesn't really remind me of Christmas, either, but it's an eye catcher.
I can imagine that the cover appeals very much to fans of rock/pop music, maybe even more than to fans of folk, new age, christian music...(which might be the confusing point :? )

I really like what I heard of the music so far, it's so amazing!!!! I'm so much looking forward to the release of the album and to Christmas of course :D
I don't think that the music will disappoint me and if she tried something new, I accept it. Moya tries to develop her music further and that's great.

I'm with G here I thnk. If you want my honest first thoughts on the cover when I first saw the graphic (before reading any remarks, the words, "That's terrible" went through my mind).

It's the first time I've ever caught myself thinking such thoughts about anything Moya ..... I mean, I LOVED the TH artwork!

Maybe she's gone a bit "mainstream" to help her chances of it being played in the music shops ahead of Christmas .... the sound clips are great! The music will deliver, I'm sure of it (and let's face it, we buy albums for the music not the artwork).

This topic was started yesterday; I knew I hadn't seen anything concerning a release date here which is why I'd asked in a Christian music store a couple of weeks ago about it. On Saturday, I tried a Virgin Megastore and they'd not heard of anything Moya on their computers except for TH.

Greg, many thanks for this!!! Do you know whether that 15th Nov. is a US release date or a UK one?

EDIT: From that article:
Love Came Down is set to become one of the most important albums of the season.

Let's hope and pray that this will indeed be so!!

The "Try if you like" -list on the website is interesting. Enya, Clannad, Brídín - this comparison is nothing unusual.
But Dido???? I never thought that Moya's music had very much in common with hers
Well, if this was the case with the new album, it would be a surprise, but as I like Dido's music very much, it's Ok for me.

What's that supposed to mean?

I'm just looking at this again, and listening to the music again - it really is superb, and I think the album cover is growing on me.

Still love you Moya

Thanks Greg for posting the cover and the link to the soundclips.

I am sorry to say that I don't like the cover. It is so un-Moya. I like all her other covers but this one I really don't like. I like Enya's new cover a lot better. May be it will be different when I see it in the shop... But of course the music is far more important than the cover and I expect that that will be awesome as always...

So Moya's album will be released the 15th of November and Enya's the 22nd, what a fantastic month November is going to be :P

Love,

Suzanne

Well I'm going to go seemingly against the grain and say I love the cover.. it's unique, its got subtle humor and above all, it's MOYA, what more can you ask for??

I'm so Exited. The photography is AMAZING! Thanks so much! Oh, I'm only after listening to the Clips, and I love them. I think 'Carol of the Bells' sound AMAZING! It's a new side to Máire, that I'm really looking forward to!

I have to go with you on this one NEss!

I absolutely loooooove this cover - it's so UN-Moya that it's simply WONDERFUL!

It's gonna be an expensive November this year!!!

Enya's new album and single
Moya's new album
etc...

I agree that the cover doesn't have anything sofar to do with Christmas, but it has a very modern appeal and I like the fact that the Brennan Women (counting Enya in) have applied a "younger" more vibrant feel to their covers for the new albums! Don't get me wrong, I sincerely enjoyed Moya's cover of WTTWW (I didn't really like TH that much, too static) but it's nice to see these women in an "alien" setting - meaning something alien to the expected...we all expect Moya to have something (or Enya for that matter) etheric or rural/natural around them - let's look at the new covers with an open mind and just enjoy! :)

So un-Moya?! Don't agree with that :D If you put all Moya's solo-albums next to each other you see that she has an entirely different cover every single time....every time the Art work is a wonderful surprise. That's why I think this cover perfectly fits in with the others! It is very Moya-like because she dares to try something new and unexpected (my opinion, you don't need to agree  )
A lot of mainstream Christmas albums have the kind of cover that scream at you from a 100 miles distance "I am a Christmas album" this one doesn't. You usually see the artist sitting in some candlelit room with Christmas decorations all around. I think Moya's cover is execellent in that she doesn't need all this gaudery and frills. The way she has styled herself and her hair in this picture give me a suggestion of Christmas decorations and I think that is brilliant and shows a sense of humour..... (guess I better go now, I realize I am repeating myself LOL  )
Anyway...my flatmate just walked in and I showed her the cover, she spontaneaously ejaculated: "OH WOW"

I find it interesting to read all the responses....tastes do differ!!!!!!!!!! and there's nothing wrong with that :D

I think the cover is interesting. I wonder what the inside pictures will look like ? I loved the sound clips. They were too short, but I liked what I heard. Im so exited that she recorded "Gabriel's Message" !!!! One of my favorite Christmas songs ever. I will be looking for that CD and I will probably be playing it through the holidays. What a treat.

its strange both Enya and Moya cover have a white background that is a good way of marcheting, because when you will see the cd's in a store these ones will be the first that your eyes will capture, because the colors.
