What song are you listening to right now?

Postby Angoid » Mon Mar 07, 2005 9:34 pm

Here's another little game. You have to post the lyrics to the song you're listening to right now, state the album and other detail that seems relevant to you.

Let's make a start .....
I know where to go tomorrow
Where tears will not find me
And I'll give you this song
When autumn rays come down
Ring out the bells on Tara
My destiny in your hands

Chorus:
I'm waiting at the crossroads, waiting for you
With the blossoms around us, promising true
Dreaming on the high wind, dream it for you
And return to our lost ocean blue

I want to believe forever
Sleep softly beside me
And I'll give you this heart
When morning dew falls down
Stood by the hill of Tara
Feel the love in the land

(Chorus)

Éist fuaim an chláirseach (Listen to the sound of the harp)
Ar bharr Teamhair (On the Hill of Tara)
Seo chugaibh an tArd rí (The High Kings have arrived)
Ar bharr Teamhair (On the Hill of Tara)

(Chorus)

Of course, the number of prizes for guessing what that song is are is the same as the number of guesses it will take you to get it right, less one.
If you don't know what eschatology is then don't worry; it's not the end of the world.

Tara by Moya Brennan, from "Two Horizons"!

My one:

It's not given because you deserve it
it's given by grace
It's not given because you deserve it
it's given by grace

I can't believe how close it was
as close as it gets
New days promise newer wonders
like a laugh, a smile, a frown

Then comes a day like any other
when the world comes crashing down
I saw you go...how could I know
if this would be the last
time that we'd ever be
together, you and me?

It's not given because we deserve it
it's given by grace
It's not given because we deserve it
it's given by grace

Though all too brief the hours we'd shared
had redrawn my life
In this high stakes world of give and take
couldn't you be left alone
to learn from life's many small mistakes
to discover on your own?

I couldn't bear just standing there
You were drifting out of reach
Then your eyes opened up to mine
a blessing and a sign

Not given because I deserved it
but given by grace

Chance or design, what's the reason?
I wouldn't know where to begin
Faith is a small consolation
I look for a light from within

It's not given because you deserve it
it's given by grace

It's engraved in my heart by the wonder
I see in your face

It's not given because you deserve it

Just finished:

"Hear my cry
In my hungering search for you
Taste my breath on the wind
See the sky
As it mirrors my colours
Hints and whispers begin

I am living to nourish you, cherish you
I am pulsing the blood in your veins
Feel the magic and power of surrender
To life. Uisce Beatha.

Every finger is touching and searching
Until your secrets come out
In the dance, as it endlessly circles
I linger close to your mouth

I am living to nourish you, cherish you
I am pulsing the blood in your veins
Feel the magic and power of surrender
To life. Uisce Beatha"

Seachrán Charin tSiail

Postby Roibeard Óg » Thu Mar 10, 2005 12:30 pm

Seachrán Charn tSiail
Ar mo tharraingt siar go Carn tSiail dom
Go haonach bliantúil n Féil' Muire Mó
Tharla an ainnir as an taobh aniar dom
Is í go cianmhar 'gabháil tharam sa ród
Dar liom féin, ó, gur scar mo chiall uaim
Mar bheinn ag siabhrán nó seal ag ól
Chonacthas domhsa gur dhorcha an ghrian gheal
Le taobh 'ach dealramh 'raibh ina grua mar rós

Bheannaíos féin go preab don mhaighdean
Agus feasbhaidh céille ní raibh in mo ghlór
D'fhiafir mé féin dí 'raibh aon fhear in Éirinn
A ghlacfadh sí 'e roghain orm ins an ród
D'fhiafir sí domhsa cá raibh mo léine
Mo bhuig, mo bhéabhar, 's gan fiú na mbróg
Go mb'annamh a chonaic sise sac ma éideadh
Ar fhear ag bréagadh cailín óg

Níl siúd áit ó íochar Fhanad
Nach bhfuil mé i ngrá le bean nó dhó
Bean sna Rosa thiar i Mín na Manrach
Ó thaobh Ghleann Átha 'go dtí 'n Mhucais Mhór
Dís i mBaoilleach, dis i mBáineach
Bean in Árainn 's a chois Ghaoth Dobhair
Ó Leitir Ceanainn go dtí mullach Gháigin
'S go Curraoin Mhanuis a chois an róid

Bhí mé ar an Mhuine Mhór is i gCaisleán Cába
I mBaile Uí Dhalaigh is i Lios na Sciath
Bhí me i Muineachán agus ar an Ghráinsigh
Is ag Droichead Chúil Áine le corradh is bliain
Aréir a tharlaigh i nDroichead Átha mé
'S anocht atá mé fá Charn tSíail
'S anois más roghain leat ar fhearaibh Fáil mé
Seo mo lámh duit, bíom ag triall
"Tús maith, leath na hoibre!"

I think the song is called "Don't Give Up". It is a duet with Moya & Mike McDonald from the Streams compilation CD.
