Looks like another spam attack

Postby Phantas » Fri Apr 15, 2016 10:25 pm

ADmins, there's a lot of messages and new posts on the boards that relate to nothing. Looks like another spam attack flooding us. [sometimes, not being so active on here helps notice these things lol].

I suggest you get your butts in motion [and more likely your fingers] and get rid of them! ^_^

thanks
Rick

new members with agendas

Postby Turlough » Sat Oct 01, 2016 12:32 am

We are getting a couple new forum members who are here for the sake of their own agendas, such a kimevents and cairosantos. Not ot say their posts are uninteresting, but their content does not belong on the sub forums where they are turning up.

those so-called "new members" are more likely bots or something of some kind only on here to post commercial activites of many kinds.

My BIG apologies .... the forum has been so quiet that I just haven't been coming in here.
We've been hit by a lot of spammers; I think there was an attack a few months ago as another board I administer got hit out of the blue.
Will spend some time clearing up the garbage over the next day or so.
It'll be nice if this place is clean for any new members coming in after the new album is released (which I found out through Twitter).
Sorry for letting it become a spammers' playground :(

OK - done :D Less painful than I thought it would be but there were quite a lot.
I hope I didn't nuke any real new members in the process but I did double-check my work.
I think they were human spammers - we would have been hit a lot harder if it was the work of a bot, but I've changed the CAPTCHA anyway so if it had found its way into a spammers database, it is now useless :D

thanks for your actions Angoid :)
