New Album - September 2013

Postby Mariusz Maxwell Krause » Mon May 20, 2013 10:21 am

I guess everybody heard the news already:

Clannad are delighted to announce that they have signed with world music specialists ARC Music to release the band's much anticipated new album. ARC have previously released the spectacular Clannad at Christ Church Cathedral CD & DVD and both sides are very much looking forward to working on this new venture together.
Scheduled for release in September 2013, this will be the first full album of new material since 1998's Grammy winning Landmarks. It will also be the first album since Pol left the band in 1989 to contain all five original members.
After a prolonged period of writing and pre-production, the band began recording in earnest last Monday at a location in Ireland. They are all very excited to be getting to the final stages of work on this long awaited (and long overdue) album. We will bring you more news as the album progresses. So stay tuned !

According to their Facebook pages: The vibe is great, very happy with the songs we have down so far, all five of us writing, both individually and together. Some pics: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 360&type=1

Could be the reason why Moya hasn't announced anything solo this next fall. She is now ALL back with Clannad..and her leftovers are with the Maggies...

Isnt that amazing ? a new record ! This was something totally incredible just about a year ago !

They will probably do a tour to promote that album. Hope to find a way to attend a few.

I just saw on the Clannad Newsblog that the title of the new album is "Nádúr" , which means "Nature". I really like the title! The releasedate is September 23rd. I am looking forward to it very much! :D

Love,

And Voices and Harps (Moya and Cormac de Barra) are touring in Germany in November as well - a busy autumn!

I already bought a ticket for the concert in Mainz :D . And a few weeks ago I bought also a ticket for CLANNAD in Plymouth in March 2014.
Bye the way I have heard that Clannad will be in Australia in September.

On Ed's page there is a link to You Tube with short soundclips of the new album :D. They are really gorgeous! The soundclips that stand out to me are Brave Enough, The Song in your heart and Hymn (to her love) but they are only 30 seconds of course. There are all kinds of styles as far as I could hear, a bit of the older Clannad and a bit of the Clannad of the later albums. Some traditionals, some dreamy tracks, some uptempo songs and lots of wonderful vocals. We are in for a treat, I think :D !

Thank you so much for posting the link, Ed! :D

Is it just me or does September still seem so far away....

EDIT: I just checked Bol.com and the album can also already be pre-ordered there. It says that September 13th is the release date but that is may be a mistake (hope it is not though  ). They also list the songs and running times of the songs:

1. Clannad - Vellum - 4:25
2. Clannad - Rhapsody Na Gcrann - 3:16
3. Clannad - Transatlantic - 3:57
4. Clannad - Turas Dhomhsa Chon Na Galldachd - 3:22
5. Clannad - Brave Enough - 4:17
6. Clannad - The Fishing Blues - 3:25
7. Clannad - Lamh Ar Lamh - 3:42
8. Clannad - Tobar An Tsaoil - 3:32
9. Clannad - A Song In Your Heart - 3:38
10. Clannad - A Quiet Town - 3:16
11. Clannad - Hymn (To Her Love) - 4:46
12. Clannad - Setanta - 4:34
13. Clannad - Citi Na Gcumann - 4:57

Love,

Yvonne

The Clannad newsblog was last updated on 27th July 2013, and says (amongst other things):
The album will be released digitally world wide on 20th September and the CD will be released within the following week or two depending on the country. It will be available for pre-order on Amazon very soon.

I'm not into 30-second soundbiltes; it doesn't give enough for the song to get going and therefore give a full impression of what it will really be like, so I'll probably wait for the album to come out.

It said 20th September, so perhaps there has been some slippage Yvonne?

Yes, I also think that it is a mistake, but other Dutch sites that list the album say that the releasedate is September 13th as well. We will have to wait and see... Of course I won't mind if the releasedate is a week earlier  but I am not counting on it.

You are right about the 30 seconds soundclips, but I couldn't resist listening to them anyway. ( I never can, haha :D )

Love,

Yvonne

If all goes to plan, Susann, I'll see you in Mainz! I've decided that, by then, it'll be far too long since Cormac and I shared a bit of banter - and a couple of weeks after my birthday seems as good a time as any!!!! I suspect Moya will tell me off for travelling "so far", but never mind....some things have to be done.... :P

As for the new album, I've only heard the latter part of September mentioned, so I'm working on the basis of the 23rd being correct, but I certainly won't complain if it turns up around the 13th!!!!

@Yvonne, Angoid

about the release date of Nádúr. The digitally release (read I-tunes like) is planned for 20 september. The weeks after, the cd itself will be released, depending on what country you live, so some will be earlier than others. As always there will be shops with dates before the official releasedate. Why, just trying to make you buy the cd at their shop, maybe perhaps they can get the cd earlier but not using the official ways. And sometimes shops just put a release date at a product, without being sure of it. Something the same happened at amazon.co.uk, that was one of the first to offer the cd for GBP 9.60 and a few days later changed it to GBP 10,48. In other words, they just write something down and than change it later on.
I just keep on to the 20th september for the release, we have been waiting years for this album, so what's the problem with a few days later?
Btw, i've been listening to the clips many times, and i must say it's stunning! Just counting the days to the release....

regards
