What is your favourite Máire / Moya album?

Postby Mariusz Maxwell Krause » Wed Mar 20, 2013 11:56 am

Hey,

Hope everyone is doing well.

As spring is coming (at least in the calendar) it is a good time for voting :)

The question is: What is your favourite Máire / Moya album?

We have 10 albums to vote for (incl. "collaborations").

Personally I hope for new, fully solo album soon.
And I will have really problem to choose between Two Horizons, Máire, Whisper to the Wild Water or Misty Eyed Adventures 8)

For me it is Voices & Harps. Just because of its meditative and haunting soundworld. Simple enough without too much power.

Hi Mariusz,

I am so glad that you started this topic! I have been thinking about starting something myself, because it is soo quiet here, but couldn't think of anything!

My favourite album still is Perfect Time, I just love it! An Irish Christmas and Whisper to the wild water are probably my second and third favourites but really, I love all Moya's albums. They all have their own distinct style but are still really all Moya's style :D .

I am also looking forward to a new Moya album, I believe there will be a new Voices and Harps CD soon!

Love,

Yvonne

For me it's a really difficult choice between Whisper to the Wild Water and Two Horizons. WttWW appeared in the music stores here some time in 2000, just a few months after I'd discovered Clannad, and even though I'm not into Gospel music, I simply couldn't stop listening to it. On the other hand, I really love the idea behind 2H and there are quite a few of my favourite songs on it :) But since apparently no one has voted for WttWW yet, let me be the first one ;)

I think it has to be Heart Strings for me, partly because it has a nice "mix of everything", and also it has a local connection for me, with most of the album being recorded in Liverpool.

@Yvonne - I think I saw on Cormac's Facebook the other day that Voices & Harps 2 has now been sent off for final mixing, so, as the saying goes - "watch this space"!!!!

Oh, thanks Dave, that is good news :D . I wonder whether it will be finished in time for the Dutch Tour, which starts on April 3rd. I thought it was their intention to sell the new CD there, but it may a bit too soon. We'll see, I am looking forward very much to the tour :D ( but that is another topic  )

Love,

Voices and Harps for me, but that is because of the wealth of wonderful memories that go with it!
I do believe however that it is exactly the same album as 'My Match is a Makin'.

As for the new CD, I believe the plan is to sell it on the Dutch Voices and Harps tour

There you go, Yvonne - looks as though you'll get a copy before those of us who are going to Gweedore in the summer!!! :P

It was Dave - and sounds like we can expect a launch too, so hopefully that will make up for our extended wait!

This is tough. I voted for Signature, but Two Horizons is right up there with it.

I voted Signature, but I also love playing Two Horizons and most of the other albums. But I chose Signature since it seems to have a nice mix of everything: upbeat tracks, ballads, and gaelic work. Plus, the mixing of the album is splendid compared to the older albums [pre-TH].

For me, I wonder where Moya is headed these days. Will she solely be making albums with Cormac [i.e. the Voices and Harps series] or will she be returning to doing solo material again? Not that I do not like the V&H series, it's just that I'd miss songs like Against the Wind or Many Faces, i.e. the more upbeat ones.

Just cast a vote ..... for an album that is now joint most popular :)

For me, Moya has kind of "dropped off my radar" somewhat due to circumstances beyond my control but I do often wonder in what direction things will go in the future....
