Happy St Patrick's Day!

Postby Dab051176 » Mon Mar 15, 2010 9:08 pm

Hi All,

I know I'm a couple of days early, but I'm off to Dublin tomorrow, so I thought I'd drop by and wish you:

Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig!!!! (Hope that's right! :P)

Hope you have a great time - whatever you're doing! As long as I get a reasonable view, pics of the parade in Dublin to follow.....

Hi Dave, I wish you a fantastic time in Dublin   .
To see some photos would be nice.

I will celebrate it in an Irish pub in Germany :) :) :).

Happy St. Patrick's Day in advance, everyone (Moya & family included)! I've already selected my green clothing for tomorrow plus dusted off my tinwhistles...

Thanks G - I can certainly vouch for the fact that the Irish know how to party on St Patrick's Day!

I can't give you the atmosphere, I'm afraid, but here's a link to some photos I took at the parade. (The link should take you to the album. There are 35 photos, so if I list individual links, Angus and the Tech Gods may not be too impressed!). Also, the live coverage from RTE is on their "RTE Player" website, if you want to see the whole thing in its moving glory! I can access it from the UK, so I don't think anyone else should have any problems.

I'll be the first to admit that they're not exactly up to Siobhan's standards, but they're not bad considering I was peering over a metal barrier from my wheelchair! :P Oh, and given that a few members of the forum are rather partial to a "romhat" or two, I thought I'd add another one at the end of the pics! :lol:

Hope the link works - and enjoy!

Thanks for sharing those pics, Dave, they're really great, and it looks like we all missed a treat. I know a Dubliner who couldn't make it home this year, so I may have to show him those to tide him over until his next visit.

I also want to apologise for starting another St.Paddy's thread instead of using this one - I did look to see if anyone had started one, but somehow completely missed it!

Barry.

Partly my fault for tucking it away here, instead of putting it in the "General" section (where most people would have looked), Barry - sorry! ;)

I'm sorry your Dubliner friend didn't get home in time. It's been running for 15 years, though, so I would imagine they'll go for number 16! It's a cliché, I know, but there's "always next year"! :)

Great pics Dave, you weren't too far away from my viewing point ( Parnell Square North ) The parade wasn't as long as previous years but I believe that the many colours made up for this. :)

My camera did some serious work, but I have picked only a few out of the collection, posting all would really get me into trouble with the tech brigade and many have the same subject as Dave's :)

Sorry, Dubhy - if I'd have known, I'd have come up to meet you. I'd got loads of time, because I was "in place" by 10am for the Midday start! I was staying by the O'Connell Bridge, though, so I've got to be honest and say I went for the nearest place.

If all goes to plan, I've already got the time off for next year, so maybe meet up next time around?

That would be great Dave,Parnell Square North is our usual spot, mainly because the crowd isn't too bad there. We got there at 11.30 and still had a space right at the barrier. :)
