This is exactly what I'm feeling. I couldn't say it better. Enya's version is nice but Moya's "Oiche Chuin" grabs me. _________________ To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all. (Oscar Wilde) |

I really cannot decide
The first version I heard and know is Enya's Oíche Chiúin (yes, I don't even know the English one ) and her's is lovely, but Moya's has different lyrics, and her voice really suits those lyrics. Gah. I give up. They're both fantastic _________________ Behind the innocent,

Enya's Oíche Chiúin Chorale on the new album is wonderful, the winner hands down. _________________ Ceolann siad ar laetha geal a bhí |

Enya's Oiche Chiuin Chorale is, sorry to say, far superior to any other version of Silent Night, Stille Nacht, etc.... _________________ Moving to the Pagan Sound..... |

Each to their own. However, I personally think that both Moya's and Enya's Oíche Chiúin are better than any others. Although I personally prefer the origingal and mispelt Oíche Chiúin out of Enya's two, and I can't decide between Moya and Enya _________________ Behind the innocent,

Enya's original 'Oíche Chiúin' is gorgeous, as is her new version, but Moya's sticks more with tradition, and yet, at the same time diversifies the song, so I've voted Moya's. And it's Aisling and Paul's vocals too that make the difference, they really add to the family-meaning behind Oíche Chiúin/Silent Night. _________________ "Love: a temporary insanity, curable by marriage."

I finally voted, and I chose Enya's (old version). Even though I like Moya's version a lot, for some reason I like Enya's more. It's hard to describe why, but I just like how she gives the song a more ethereal sound.
But I agree with those who said that Moya's sticks closer to the tradition, it has always been a song that can create a very familiar atmosphere. _________________ Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional |

i just prefer moya's live-version from the concert in baden last december
i mean this discussion is a simply matter of tase, isn't it? enya's version has an incomparably ethereal touch while moya's interpretation of the song is more natural and - has been said already - familiar.
i really like enya's voice but with moya's voice there is no comparison and the meaning of christmas and the carols have to moya it tells its own tale.
so i completly agree with Roibeard Óg _________________ Rosario
