Greets from California!

Postby Steve » Sat Oct 17, 2009 3:36 am

Hi to the Moya fans! I'm a fan, too (though a "newbie").

I'm from the central part of California (midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco) and I work in the public sector in government service. I grew up in a house in the mountains filled with a lot of music of different kinds. I was raised by a dad who played trumpet; a mom who played piano; a grandfather who played violin, trombone, clarinet; and a grandmother played piano, organ, and accordion.

Over the past four years, I have learned to appreciate more fully the outstanding music coming from Ireland. The recent starting point for me was rock/pop: first U2, then the Corrs, then Cara Dillon. A couple years ago, I was introduced to Moya's brilliant music by a good friend, Katie (a member here). It's difficult to put into words the powerful, soul-fortifying effect of her music and that amazing voice of hers. I have started to build up my solo Moya CD collection (I have 8 CDs now but still have a lot of Clannad to discover!). I also appreciate what a kind soul Moya is, from all accounts, which makes me all the more a fan.

Anyway, I'm happy to stop in as a new member and salute all you fans of Moya Brennan!

Greetings Steve, and welcome aboard :)

I probably drove right past your front door earlier this year while on honeymoon. We drove from San Fran down to LA. But we were on the coast road pretty much all the time....
