Im sad that Clannad lost, but I am veyr happy that Enya won. I mean, its amazing that she actually won something in Eire.

Does anyone know who won in Clannads category? I bet they are some obscure band that only people in thier native village have heard of.

last I heard, Moving Hearts won in Clannad's category. And that was an old band! Not completely unknown, especially in the folk world it's a wellknown band - but outside of that .... ?
I only have a couple of tracks from the original band spread out over several compilation cd's......

I can see why they won over Clannad....though Clannad should've won

Wasn't Donal Lunny in the band as well at some point in time? I could be mistaken, as the amn himself has been in and started a gazillion bands IMHO....it didn't make any sense to me

Yes, he was one of the founding members, along with Christy. I think later on Davy Spillane joined in on U-pipes.

Brendan Graham has written some wonderful songs, one of them is actually directly relating to 'The Whistest Flower' I have a recording of it sung by Karen Matheson...let me know if you're interested

Hi Grania, no, I haven't read any other books by Brendan Graham and of course I'm interested in the song. As I said I loved the book. Even my mum and some friends read it and were deeply moved. Nobody of them has known anything about Irish history before.

There's three of the books that I know of, the second two are basically what happens after the events of 'The Whitest Flower', they are 'The Eternal Fire' and 'The Brightest Day, The Darkest Night', well worth reading, although they're not in Ireland as much as America, but still very interesting and even more moving.

The song is called Crucan Na bPaiste, and I have it on Karen Matheson's album 'Downriver'. Here's a clip:
