Pets

Postby AndyPandy » Sat Jul 18, 2009 7:36 am

I was thinking, how many forum members keep pets?

Apart from Chester, the springer spaniel who lives with my parents, there are some creatures I keep here....

A goldfish called Buttiful
A water snail called George
and two rabbits; Starsky & Hutch. :)

What pets does everyone else have?

My sister has two goldfish, though I take care of them, keeping the bowl clean etc. Don't think she names them though... :P

In my family, there is a guinea-pig called Lola and a budgie called Bobby. Bobby has had some bad luck because she has already lost two friends. At the moment we look for a male budgie at her age but we haven't found one, yet.

Whereas I have my two salamander-like fire-bellied newts, have had them since 1990 and they're still around! I don't know their gender so they don't have any names, but I have playingly named them as Miriam Stockley and Karl Jenkins...!

pets and cats

We kept a lovely female cat for 14 years, she then passed away from a cancer in the mouth... It was horrible. Her name was Jessie.

No more cats or pets anymore.

((((((((Calogero))))))))

Hugs for your kitty. Poor thing... :(

I also recently lost a pet. My cat Smokey died back in April. Such a little sweetheart he was...He was about to turn 15 when he died. Still miss him...*sigh* ...

I'll always be a cat person though. At some point I will consider adopting (or should I say being 'adopted' by?) another feline friend. Just not right away...

As many of you know, I have six chickens (hens) of varying ages in the back garden, and the school has six as well, whom I've adopted

Well I have to confess I have a bit of a zoo.
A dog (Allegre, 10 years old, mix)
two chinchillas (Aura and Merle, about a year old)
two cats (Pepper and Chilli, also about a year old and living on the farm, where I work)
10 hens (no names, as I can't tell them apart, they are ex-battery hens and really industrious egg layers)
and a growing number of horses, 4 at the moment, two of which are carrying foals for next spring

@ Suvi: I like the names of your newts (had to google what a newt is - do they need living food? a friend of mine has iguanas, very funny things, but they eat living crickets, so not for me)
Für jetzt bleiben Glaube, Hoffnung, Liebe, diese drei; doch am größten unter ihnen ist die Liebe.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Well, these newts I have do not necessarily need living food, I feed them with frozen chunks of bloodworms and I have also heard some feed their newts with minced meat! Though my newts didn't learn to eat minced meat so I stick with the bloodworms instead...

We have dog named Take. That's a Frysian name, and not pronounced like the english verb to take. More like Tah-keh

9 year old tom cat named Aki - living with my parents :-) You almost dunno that he is alive - sleeping all the time, showing himself only when he wants some food :D

2 years old brittish blue lady cat named Miki. Sse used to live with me but once I put her together with Aki and she didn't want to live a life without him any more :P so she also lives with my parents. She is very different form Aki. She bites!!!!!! I guess if she ever met a dog she would scare him out :P, she hisses like a snake. She scratches you everytime you want to touch her. And she can growl like a dog. While Aki is skinny she is pretty fat. We call her fear factor cat :D but she is beautiful and we love them both :-)

We also used to have chinchillas, iguana, fish, a mouse.....

Right now I just have my (almost) five- year old guinea pig, Mustang Sally, as well as my ten-year old Peruvian Paso mare, Refinada. Hopefully once I graduate I can devote some time to a dog! :D
