This is very exciting! :D What a surprise!

Of course a new album with new songs would be even better, but I am looking forward to this one too! I wonder which songs will be on it and perhaps there will be some new songs on it, who knows..?

And of course we already have some Clannad live albums, but an unplugged album will be a bit different, I think. I am hoping for a lot of harp music :D (but then I always hope that when a new Moya or Clannad album is being released! )

Love,

Yvonne

It'll certainly be interesting to see what happens. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves though boys and girls  When we see the cover design, then we get excited!

And also when we get the track listing :)

But I agree that I'd like to see some new material; perhaps some tracks they've never released before but remain as clippings of tape all over the studio floor

I was so worried because it wouldn't be 'new' songs, but then I realised, they're going to be the first unplugged songs by Clannad in almost three decades. I can't wait. And by 'old' songs hopefully that means from trad stuff right up to 'Landmarks'. Fingers crossed it won't have 'In a Lifetime' either, after all the live albums.

I just can't wait, I'm delighted. I've felt that Clannad have got a bit 'Star trek' with all those weird synth sounds at their recent live concerts and the 2005 live album, so I'm really looking forward to this album :D

i hope they are in the studio working on the cd right now and that this aint just a load of bull, i wont be holding by breath until i see the artwork and the track listing. and i also hope that harrys game aint on it. as we all have enough cds of clannad with harrys game and i do think it would be wrong of them to try and re record a celtic masterpiece.

I am interested to listen to this CD and I would probably by it to support Clannad but I am not crazy about the idea of doing old songs. I was really hoping for some new songs. It is always fun to hear new versions of old songs but when all is said and done I tend to like originals much better. It will be interesting to hear the album though.

I agree. It would be so nice to hear new material. If it's all old material, it would be really good to hear songs that haven't been featured on many (if any) compilations or live albums. Especially the stuff from Anam, Landmarks and the very early stuff. It'd be nice to hear songs like 'An tOileán Úr' again, except with slow piano accompaniment like Leon (I think) played in the TG4 documentary.

I think it was Ciarán in that documentary, sat at the amazing piano? That part of the programme was so cool, him just sat there playing like that!

Yeah it must have been Ciarán, in the kitchen??

Agh it was so gorgeous  I'd love to hear An tOileán Úr in that style... it's nice and wound down!

Was Leo sitting beside him? My memory's terrible xD

Yeah, but it looked like a living room, am I right? With the gorgeous grand piano?

Boy, we're getting worse

I can still remember that moment though I watched it some time ago

As for the new album I don't expect any new song on it, however it's still great that Clannad has some plans and projects. I expect a very nice unplugged album with the sounds reminding us of their first albums. It's a bit hard to believe though that they wouldn't resort to some sort of electronic sound. I bet there will be some

Even though Clannad have used electronic stuff in their music throughout their career, I've always felt that Clannad is a mostly acoustic band in any case - which is why I'm not superbly over the moon with this news. I'd rather have a decent new album with gorgeous tracks which inspire, which seem to capture the fun Clannad has while recording.
That isn't to say that this album might not capture that spirit, but if they're using old songs it takes away a bit of the magic for me.

As someone mentioned Landmarks, I think that's a good example of what I'm talking about here - everytime I play it, it feels very acoustic even though they use electrical instruments (guitar) and electronic sounds (synth). Unfortunately, I do not think of Landmarks as a very inspiring album, even though there are some great tracks on it and Clannad is in top form. It just sounds too...jazzy, too laidback, too "we're giving it another go and then say goodbye" kind of feel (does this make any sense? It's hard to put under words!). Jaded perhaps? But it's not a word I'd describe Clannad with. ;)

I would like to see an album that has new songs and tracks, which really sparkle. However one may look at the album Sirius for example, it sparkles because it is so different and after all this time still sounds as fresh (strangely enough).

So, I'm not jumping for joy, even though it may be great to hear from Clannad again, it sounds just a bit too much like yet another collection album, only this time it's real Clannad and acoustic.

Love,
Phantas

I still hope to hear some wonderful songs from Robin of Sherwood TV series. 2 new tunes that didn't appear on Leged we could hear on Live in concert. Maybe we'll hear more on that album. There is one nice tune played on harp by Moya when Robin (Jason Connery) was dancing with Marion (Judi Trott). She could play it again. For us :) After the dance there was another great tune when Robin was fighting with Owen. And many more great tunes...
