Well, The Hunter comes from the short period of Clannad music which I like least. Nevertheless, I like this song very much and what's more I reckon its video is the best ever music video made by Clannad. What do you think about the music video?

I have to say when I first saw the video for 'The Hunter', I absolutely fell in love with it. I like the way Máire's image is super imposed on the trees. The video really got to me when I was watching it. And I heard the song on FineTune about 5 minutes ago, and I decided to see what peoples' views are on this.

Nothing special for me, really. Haven't seen the video though, but somehow not even the song is memorable enough for me.

Each to their own, Suvi. To me, the song is hauntingly beautiful, Máíre's voice really rings with something truly wonderful, its so amazing, I can't describe it.

To me the song occurred in an unfavorable context: on "PastPresent" it follows the lively "Closer to You Heart" and the mournful "Almost Seem Too Late to Turn", so it is anticlimactic. It's just not that strong a tune to me, and I find myself waiting for something more compelling.

I adore 'Almost Seems (Too Late To Turn)' its a wonderful song, I also love 'What Will I do?', saying that, I've just realised that I like the sadder songs in a sense. They have a certain 'hold' over me, perhaps that's why I like Enya as well.

I like it well enough, but I have to be in the right mood for it. I have it as a bonus track on the remastered 'Sirius' where it fits in quite well - I can certainly see that it wouldn't really compare to 'Closer to Your Heart' or the emotional magnificence of 'Almost seems', yes.

To be honest, the album 'In A Lifetime - The Best of Clannad' (Bonus CD) got me into Clannad, and that album features both 'What Will I Do?' and 'Almost Seems...', and I like that album, apart from the song with Bono 'In A Lifetime', its just not me, shame I haven't got 'PastPresent'.

I like 'Herne' too, but they sound very similar.

I must say, I had to go back and listen to this track before replying! ofcourse, the first few seconds were enough for me ;) I like it, especially the rhythm line in it, but it isn't a "wow" factor song. Somehow all songs around PastPresent have Moya singing in a very low, almost subdued voice, almost inaudible over the music. Was this ever done intentionally or just a bad mix?

In any event, I'll prefer Herne over The Hunter anytime! I must admit I believe I've never actually seen the video methinks....will have to check that!

Love,

Hmmmmmmmmmm. To me, 'The Hunter' has a certain hold over me, a certain magic, it has a very strong power, and I feel it, if that makes sense.
