Yes, "Take the cheese to sickbay!" was B'lanna's line. Most those aren't about the captains themselves.

I have to agree with the one about pulling over to ask for directions.

Another reason to call Janeway the mother of the ship was that she gave people extra chores for punishment. I liked when she threatened Paris when cleaning the plasma filters when he complained about being bored.

I think again, though, that she was a "momma bear." She fiercely protected the ship. I think of it as, "You're not getting to this ship and crew unless you get through me and you're not getting through me."

She is a great character.

"Trekkie?" Star Trek enthusiasts who "have a life" refer to themselves as "Trekkers." It's true that Gene Roddenberry once allegedly affirmed that "Trekkie" was the correct designation; however it must be admitted that Gene Roddenberry doesn't have much of a life these days either.

In 1991 Leonard Nimoy stated "Trekker" was the correct term.

Live long and prosper.

Just saw this topic again :)
How many Star Trek fans also like Star Wars?
I never cared much for Star Wars, I thought that sword fighting was a bit ridiculous in SciFi. But then I got introduced to it and I'm hooked! My favourite characters are Qui Gon and Yoda. I've actually based two important characters in my book on them. (Although my book isn't going to be SciFi at all)

I haven't seen any Star Wars for a very long time, but I seem to remember enjoying it a bit at least. Most ST fans I've met don't like it though.

I have a friend who loves both series... But I have to admit, in my case, that I am not a fan of Star Trek...

Star Wars? I like all the bad guys. Just call me a fan of the Sith Lords.

Star Trek universe vs. Star Wars universe. My guess is is Spock would figure out how to neutralize the "Force" and then the Trek universe would kick butt.

I think that it's worth it! I watched the movie last Friday and it was even better than I had expected. The story was quite classical but the film was very thrilling neverthless. I also liked the special effects. The only thing I would criticize about the film is the lack of women in it and some stupid product placements that don't fit the Star Treck universe at all . :)

I've heard good things about it and I'm happy to read them on the forum as well :)
Would love to see it, but I'll have to wait a few weeks till they have the English version in the cinema here, if they'll have it. Otherwise I hope it's still showing in the Netherlands in four weeks during my visit.
Or wait for the dvd...
