Hi my name is Tim Hyder from London, UK. I been a fan since Clannad in 1999 where I got Celtic Connection. I didn't start to get the CDs until last year, so far got Magical Ring, Macalla, Sirius, Atlantic Realm (not here but ordered), past present, Banba, Lore, Landmarks, In A Lifetime best) and 1 single :)

I already transribed the hourglass video ;)

Music I love

Clannad, Runrig, Paul Mounsey, Peatbog Faeries, Atlan, Corvus Corax, Donnie Munro, Diana Vickers, Adele, Clare Maguire, Olly Murs, Dario G, Chicane, Enya, Capercaillie, classical, soundtracks :)

TV I love

Documentries, Mythbusters, Most Haunted (when it was on),

Any questions just ask :)

Hi, welcome to the forum :D Any questions, give us a shout!

You're doing pretty well on collecting the albums there :) but definitely go for some of the early ones if you can, they can take a bit more tracking down but it's well worth it :)

Stay around and talk to us

I plan to get the first album; is the last track available anywhere else?

An Bealach Seo 'tá Romham? I haven't come across it anywhere else, but I think it's on the album as standard now anyway...certainly the CD. I would find the others if you can, they are all equally fantastic (Fuaim is certainly not one to miss!)

Welcome to the forum, Tim. :)

As G says, the early albums are great - you do need to have a bit of time on your hands to find them, but they're worth it!

I don't normally suggest the compilation albums, because although there are plenty of them, they usually have very similar track lists to each other. However, if you're looking for a good Clannad "trad" album with plenty of variety, I can recommend Beginnings - The best of the early years.

Sadly, it's missing An Seo Bealach, but it would certainly give you something to keep you going whilst you track down the original albums! :D

You should find it in various music webstores, but if you need any pointers, let me know.

Yes, that's not a bad compilation - it's got nearly everything on it. Actually, I see it quite a lot in HMV and high-street shops like that, so you might not even have to worry about going online for it :)

I got in a lifetime which has 2 new songs, same for past present :)

Gonna get Rogha, as that has a good mixture, same for greatest hits :)

An Bealach Seo 'tá Romham is on Clannad 1 or Pretty Maid, but I heard the song on youtube and seems to be a direct recording from that show?

Clannad 1 is a full studio album, no live tracks. I would advise against trusting everything written on Youtube...not much of a reliable source. It's great for finding rare music perhaps, but it's not so good for finding out the particulars.

I recommend Clannad 1 though - it's one of the best Clannad albums :D

Actually Phantas; when Clannad 1 was re-released, it included An Bealach Seo 'tá Romham

If you hear

Code: Select all

Is the new track, but the album version seems clearer

Then

Code: Select all

The second link is like a clearer version of the first link ;)

I didn't say about live tracks, the tv appearance

I'm sorry - I guess I had misread your previous post (quoted above). ;)

My version of Clannad 1 includes An Bealach Seo...and that's all I've ever known. I don't scour the web searching for songs I already have :P but that may just be me :D
Also ,I don't care much for youtube, except for watching trailers, some music videos and the occasional roller coaster onride-POV :P

So, I guess I must have misunderstood what you meant ;)

An Bealach Seo 'tá Romham was originally a double A-side single released in 1975 on Gael-Linn, the other side was 'Faoilean' by Triona. The 7" single is incredibly rare, and I've yet to lay my eyes on a copy.

When Royal Records reconstructed Clannad 1/The Pretty Maid from vinyl, they added this song as a bonus track. The later CD re-release by Universal also included the track.

The new remastered Clannad 2/Dúlamán twin-pack from Gael-Linn also includes the song.
