I think it is I am really going to strive to become a 'Really Enthusiastic Member' and hopefully I will one day gain the status of 'Addicted to Moya'   Like Grania and Nessie LOL

Yes Hester, I'm the guilty party there!

Just wondering how long it will be before others notice (provided they don't see this thread beforehand) :)

Lovely idea  you want me to remove this thread and let everybody find out for themselves?!? Although I am sure that if someone notices it...they might start up a new thread. I myself couldn't resist it LOL

No ... let's leave it in place :)

It works like this:

Between 0 and 49 posts you're a New Member
Between 50 and 99 posts makes you a Member
Between 100 and 499 posts makes you an Enthusiastic Member
Between 500 and 999 posts makes you a Really Enthusiastic Member
Over 1000 posts makes you Addicted to Moya

I was wondering about this. To be honest, I am not crazy about 'ranks'. I always find them competative and would much rather do without. I always found the Moyaforum so friendly because there was nothing like those ranks. sorry Angus, I know you want to improve the forum and you are doing a great job, but this I just don't like.

Mise, I know what you mean. It can create a sort of "one-upmanship" which isn't very nice to have around. However, let's see how it goes. It's easy enough to remove (or just make everyone "Member") if it proves unworkable.

Sorry, but I have to agree with mise. This always sounds like if anyone is a better member, although I can live with it;)

I don't know. I kind of like the new name things... I don't find them competitive... more, I find them funny! I like the names that have come up and I for one, probably won't be noticing the names.

thanks for them though Angus!!

I think that this ranking is rather funny, but I can understand all members who feel uneasy with it. If you're still a new member, you find it hard to become really part of the forum and a ranking that reminds you of the fact that you're new might make it even worse.
But on the other hand, one shouldn't take such ranking too seriously as well as one shouldn't take the number of posts too seriously. I mean it doesn't say anything about the member as a person.

I'd agree there I think .... even without titles against names, you can always see the number of posts against a person's name.

Newbies are to be welcomed, and we're very good at thst here. There is one forum I'm on (that I don't use very often and it's not one that anyone else here is a member of as far as I know) that seems to have an unwritten against-the-rules policy of flaming newbies. There are people there with thousands of posts against their names yet all I see is flames and spam coming from them. These get-a-lifers should find some people to help, I think.

I added this as a bit of fun, not intending or wanting to create any kind of one-upmanship at all. But if people would be happier I can always change it to just say "Member" but leaving the special ones intact (Moderator, etc)

Edit: I've just added a poll to this; let's give it a few days to run then make a decision then!

Aaaw, shucks, i was enjoying that. I dont see any harm in a bit of silliness every now and again, but then again I am sillyNess... so long as it's taken in jest and everyone understands that then i dont see why not... certainly gave me a good chuckle when i saw them.

Well, I think it's a great laugh, although I know what people mean. I've no problem with it as you all already know I'm addicted to Moya - what else is new? lol
