Nádúr - Tobar a' tSaoil

This is quite a humorous song from a parents point of view, looking on their childhood and telling their children once grown up that there's a big world out there. (Did Moya write this with Aisling??).

Ignore my horrific grammar (in Irish and in English!), on a lunch break! Still a lot missing and a few words I'm sure I've misheard!

Roibeard Óg wrote:Taobh le taobh, thall is abhus (side by side, here and there)
‘Nonn is anall, thall is abhus (over and back, here and there)
Taobh le taobh, thall is abhus (side by side, here and there)
‘Nonn is anall, thall is abhus (over and back, here and there)

Rachfaidh muid siar go tobar a’ tsaoil sa pháirc mhór (We’ll go back to the well of life in the great field)
Le caint is ciall is aithne le fáil ansin (Chat and sense and recognition to be found there)
Rachfaidh muid siar go tobar a’ tsaoil, taobh le taobh (We’ll go back to the well of life, side by side)
Leis a’ ghlúin dá bhíodh le haoibhneas an lae (with the generation that were with the happiness of day)

‘G Éisteach le na páistí ag rith, a chosa in airde (Listening to the children running, feet not touching the ground)
Le ____ ina lámh(???), gáire ‘gus greann (With ____ in their hands, laughter and humour)
Dá bhfeicfá ‘bhí le rá acu nuair chuala trup san oíche! (If you’d hear what they had to say when there was a sound at night!)
Chumhdaigh mé le grá iad is bhí siad slán (I protected them with love, and they were safe)

Anois tá ‘n dream sin fágtha ag tarraingt ar an eolas (now that group are grown up and gaining clout)
Ar bharr na méill(??), tá na _?_?_ uilig ansin (Above the sand dunes, the ____ are all there)
Cuid lán de amhrás, is cuid atá go fírineach (Some full of curiosity and some are true)
_____________ (??)

Chí muid anois go díchéilthe ‘bhfuil an Earrach (We see now that Spring is a nonsense)
De rotha mór an tsaoil, ag casadh leo go deo (The great wheels of life, turning forever)
Den dearmaid den phléisiúr ag siúil ar fud na gleanntáin (Forget about plessure walking through the glens/valleys)
Do bhuíochas is do shláinte, go bhfuil tú beo! (Be thankful for your health, that you’re alive and well!)

I'm sure 'Rotha Mór an tSaoil' was a phrase first heard or seen passing Micí Mac Gabhann's in childhood!

Aisling did co-write it if I'm to believe the credits behind the song title on the album ;)

...and quite a mouthful to sing along for a person who mainly learns Irish Gaelic from songs! :P A very catchy, both rhythmically and melody-wise, a great singalong piece I would love to learn PROPERLY (lyric-wise)!!

This one is very hard to sing along to indeed, but it is such a catchy song that you want to sing along to! Great to know what it is about. Could you also tell me what the title means?

Love,

Yvonne

Could it be "well of life" ? It's in the first verse after the chorus, I just checked!

I'm not sure if phonetics help or not, but I can write them out for a bit of fun if anyone wants ^.^
