Clannad made a short appearance on RTÉ's The Late Late Show yesterday, sadly no interviews given but the piece they performed was VERY special indeed! The show is available as a watch again item on RTÉ's website.

Thanks for this! :D

For Turas Dhomhsa, the man who played pipes on the Clannad version has written some information on how Clannad came to record the song:

Turas Dhomhsa Chon Na Galldachd is close to Gillebride's version the way it's sung

I have been trying to get the bonus track River of Dreams on I Tunes but it just isn't possible. I get error codes every time I try. It took a lot of trouble to get I Tunes on my computer ( I got I Tunes especially for this song) but now that it's there I can't buy the song... Very frustrating :( . I hope the song will become available another way.

Apart from that I am still enjoying the rest of the album very much! It is really wonderful.

Love,

Yvonne

Just listening to a new BBC radio feature of Clannad, playing Vellum as well as interviewing Moya. The show can be listened again for 4 more days (aired during the weekend), and it can be found here:

Fast forward to around 40 mins for Vellum and the interview & some more tracks from the new album!

Enjoy!

Having had the new Clannad album for some time now, it's just plain impossible for me to pick up any favourite track because all tracks are my favourite! I bet this album will be spinning in my CD player for countless times indeed... The only minus is the lack of lyrics in the CD booklet, especially as I love to singalong with the songs anyway.

Some web reviews I have read accuse Clannad of not changing their style (mainly this comment is related to the use of synth sounds "from the 1980s"), but then again, the situation is just similar to Enya. They have found their own soundworld and want to stick to it and that is what makes them stand out! Those synths are core to the band anyway, so I cannot understand what's wrong to use them as the sound suits the music so well...

I also think that it is a good thing that also the male members do continue contributing in terms of songwriting and providing additional lead vocals, you know, if there was only Moya it wouldn't be a band after all! I absolutely love songs like Soul Searcher for example, it just wouldn't give the music full justice if Moya was doing the lead vocals all the time...

All in all, a wonderful, timeless album with stellar work from everyone involved! Go raibh míle maith agat, Clannad & others!

Suvi

Edit: Just found a Youtube link for the iTunes bonus song River Of Dreams, so if you want to hear what physical album buyers have (truly!) missed out on, please go here:

Just found a fresh video clip from Good Morning New Zealand, looks like Clannad has successfully landed on the "kiwi" land...

You can watch the clip on demand here:

Let's all hope that the recent Aussie bush fires would not cause any problems for Clannad when they move on to Australia...

Enjoy!

Susann wrote:I've just read about the bonus track on Ed's website and have the same feelings as Yvonne and Suvi. Maybe I'm a bit old-fashioned but I also prefer to buy "real" CDs (as "real" books). I've never downloaded a song from the internet. I don't even have this software :( . All songs I have on my MP3 player (it's not an iPod) are from real CDs I bought.

Mhm same here... :|

Having had the album in my possession for some time now... I can safely say "The Song in Your Heart" is my favourite. For me, it not only represents Clannad, but it almost sounds fit for a movie too. It has a real filmic power and beauty all over from beginning to end. I like ALL songs on Nadur, but this one truly stands out for me.

Hi Phantas,

I agree. The Song in my Heart is also my favourite. The harmonies are so wonderful. It is really a Clannad song and you are right it would be a very beautiful song for a soundtrack. The song still gives me goosebumps. Transatlantic would probably my second favourite, but like you I love all songs on Nadur. It is such a great album! There is, in my opinion, no weak song on the album, but like you, I think The Song in my Heart stands out. Really wonderful!

Love,

Yvonne

Funnily enough, the ballads are the strongest songs on the album for me :)

Well, I just happen to have "Rhapsody Na gGrann" as my current ringtone in my mobile phone, it's nice to have something unique as a ringtone anyway...
