What rare/collectors of Clannad stuff do you have. I have Clannad 1, Clannad 2, original and reissue on cassette, Dulaman original on cassette, Crann Ull, green cover with a clear cassette, and Crann Ull, yellow cover with a white cassette, Fuaimx2, one has a clear cassette and one with a white cassette, Anam cassette, Clannad In Concert reissue, Legend cassette. I also have cds from Magical Ring, Macalla, Sirius, Anam, Bamba, Lore, normal and 2 disk edition, Landmarks, Celtic Collection, In A lifetime cd, In a Lifetime single, Celtic Collection and In Fortunes Hand. Can anyone explain why Crann Ull and Fuaim has same cat number but cassettes is clear and white. Were white ones harder to get hold off.

Crann Ull both versions ... to0803.jpg

Crann Ull cassettes, notice how one is a clear one but other one is a white cassette ... to0804.jpg

Fuaim, cover is same, it's isnt lighter or darker like what is despicted, bad lighting ... to0805.jpg

To be honest I'm not certain why some releases are clear plastic cassettes and some white.

I have hazy memories of cassettes in the 1980s where they were always black, white or grey. Only in the 1990s can I remember seeing them clear. So perhaps the clear cases are later pressings of the album.

I thought about about later pressings; but having a lookat this. ... 563c26fdc4

Was that version first pressing or did Tara do 2 versions in same year?

I dunno if you have Fuaim original on cassette but when I first got it from amazon; it was a clear cassette.

I'd say that would be a later pressing of the album - the copyright date/release year would remain the same on all pressings, unless the album was remastered.

If you think of the availability of music formats, vinyl came first, followed by cassette tapes, followed by compact discs. The vinyl cover for Crann Úll is the orange picture, which is surrounded by green on the cassettes and CDs in both Ireland and the UK (yellow in Australia).

The Philips UK cassette (1982) had the orange cover, and I would assume Tara, as the original record label for the album back in 1980, would have released the cassette with the same cover as the vinyl.

Being fair if it was Philips, wont Philips be on cassete. Both versions have Tara on cassette and and inlay.

Perhaps I wasn't clear there. What I was trying to say is that the Tara vinyl release, as with all other vinyl releases and the UK Philips cassette, had the orange cover, with no green surround.

Only on later pressings of the UK cassette, Irish Tara CDs and international CDs did the green surround appear. So any Tara cassettes with the green surround would likely be a later pressing, rather than one from when the album was originally released back in 1980.

Maybe; has anyone got a first casettepressing. What cover was it.

I assumed Crann Ull, with green cover was first cassette pressing.
