Wedding Dress has to be one of the best pieces of music I have heard for a very very long time
As for whether Moya would perform it with her would be great, but I doubt it would be the same arrangement - for one thing the selection of instruments is very different, and T with the Maggies' harmonies are all for female voices, so if Moya performed it with her own band the sound would be very different.

I'm not sure "Wedding Dress" would work with Moya's band, purely because it's one of those songs where it's difficult to find a key to suit both male and female voices. As G says, it's less of a problem with the four female voices of T with the Maggies.

Having said that, it applies to other songs, too. I went to see T with the Maggies last night, and was struggling to sing along to "Two Sisters" because the key was spectacularly low for me!

Concert in Triskell Christchurch (Cork)

Hi folk !
I was at the concert in Cork on 29th September, they performed in Holy Trinity Church (Christchurch)... (they sang even "Caidé sin do'n té sin" and, to my surprise, "Two sisters" ! It was amazing to hear it live !)
Was any of you there too ?

I've been browsing the web and do not even succeed in finding a single lyric !
What about you ?
It seems they didn't publish any... (apart from those in the Cd-booklet...)

You lucky thing! I was going to go to Cork, but eventually it just proved too expensive :( Very disappointed. Sounds like it was fantastic - unfortunately I can't help you with the lyrics though

Erm, did they sing ALL of the verses to "Two Sisters"?

It's kinda freaky hearing such sweet voices singing such a creepy song. :P

They have done at both of the T with the Maggies concerts I've been to, Jim - but you do have a point about the "sweet voices"!:lol::lol:

It was indeed, Mairéad just kept coming up with little cracks about Donegal inserting her wit between one song and the next, with Tríona giving her plenty of rope !
Moya, I don't know why, she's always such a serious look ! Solemn I mean !
Except when she was playing the drum, they were quite the opposite, the one almost bouncing for the joy of singing and the other standing with that still expression on her face, like she was half dreaming... :?: :)

If I remember well, they skipped the eighth verse.
Also the song approached a little bit the rock style, with drums and a different sound in the guitar...

And if I remember well, that particular verse is rather necrophilic, so it's probably a good thing!

Hi all,

Courtesy of the T with the Maggies Twitter feed, I've just found out about a couple of programmes over the Christmas holiday.

First off, their Christmas special "Nollaig Na Maggies" was repeated tonight. Unfortunately, I didn't get to hear about it in time to post here, but I assume it will find its way onto RTÉ player - at some point.

The other programme is on RTÉ Radio 1 - at 11.30am UK/Ireland time Christmas morning, called Miriam Meets The Maggies. I don't know much about it, but it looks like a nice long interview!!!!

Enjoy! Nollaig Shona Daoibh! :D

I know this is a very old thread, but it was not until this week and this year that I was able to obtain a copy of the T With The Maggies album for myself! Having now listened to it through a couple of times, it is an interesting album indeed. The only thing that disturbs me (VERY slightly though!) is the "unevenness" of the voices of the singers, but that is down to the ladies' age I think. Moya's voice is still pristine and crystalline clear, but the unevenness comes audible when all four sing together. Obviously aging is unavoidable, but it could have been taken into account a bit better in the album I think...
