Moya on NBC's Today Show

What a great (short, but still great) interview/performance. Al Roker, the host, talked a bit about Moya and Clannad before having her and Cormac perform a verse and chorus of Down By the Sally Gardens.

One thing I really appreciated about this interview was that they put value on Moya's music without mentioning Enya. I feel that many interviewers try to validate Moya by mentioning Enya, which is sad and unfortunate. So this interview was very, very nice, and a good plug for Moya and for Heart Strings.

Congrats, Moya!

(Can you believe she did a concert in England the night before, and she'll do another one the night after?)

-Greg

P.S.: For all Moya's U.S. fans, Moya mentioned would be here in May!

Wow, with all the stuff about it on the main website I thought it was going to be a full concert or something  Was that all?

Ah well, glad it was good....I think Moya deserves a night off now!!!

If anyone wants to have a look, the clip has been uploaded to YouTube now:

Much easier to find than on the NBC website!

Happy St. Patrick's Day for tomorrow to one and all!

I just tried to watch the video but it says it's no longer available. I wish I had gotten a chance to catch this.

that's strange... I still can access it on youtube... maybe try again a bit later, Anya?

it's short but lovely - thanks for the link, Dave! :) I love Moya's accent and I haven't heard it in quite a while...

Very strange, YouTube works fine for me too. Anya, as you're in the US, you might be able to get at it via the Today Show website. There's a box in the middle of the page with "More from Today" on it. If you click on the video link, you'll get a list of thumbnail pictures, one of which has Moya on it. I haven't been able to check this out, as my computer's playing up a bit, but presumably if you click on it, you should get to see the clip. Either that, or as Luned says, it may be worth giving YouTube a try later.

Luned - tá failte romhat!!!!

Got in on tape but it wasnt worth it.

I mean we saw Moya about a minute out of a 2 hours show !!

She talked for 30 seconds and sang for 30 more seconds.

No big deal, i was expecting a lot more.

One thing i liked was when Moya mentionned she will be in North America in may..

Thats closer to my home !

Really cool!!! I love to hear Sally Gardens live! And I so like that sort of spontaneous settings and interviews! And look at the interviewer floating and dreaming away on the music, excellent!  Like you referred to Greg, it really does Moya justice! :D

I was a little disappointed that the interview was so short and there was only one song sang. Still, it was a great performance and nice exposure for Moya in the states. I hope she is close enough to see in May.

Happy Saint Patrick's day to all

John

Not nearly enough, but still OK :) Not sure about the 'small Irish town of Donegal' bit, but ok

Nice to see those harps out as well.....why do I have a feeling that the other pair were in England at the time?

Oh, I knew that those harps looked familiar! Sorry, some of you will understand my interest in which harps are being played when. I point to the pedal harp thread as evidence of that. 8)
