I agree with Robbie on the lyrics being a bit much... The lyrics Moya writes are more poetic and leave something to be imagined, while these don't. BUT I really liked hearing Moya sing this song! It is somewhat different from what we normally hear her do, much more pop, but it's great to hear her voice doing a different style and she definitely carries it off well. And of course they made use of her trademark airy vocals! So, in all, really great!

What do they use the Olympic anthem for? Commercials, etc, or in the opening ceremony? :?:

I LOVE the song, a little more rock in the sound fits to Moya! I like it! :D

But to be honest... I am not very enthousiastic about the Olympics in China. Here in the Netherlands some bands refused to perform on the Olympics because of the human rights situation in China and the situation in Tibet. The Chinese doesn't have anything to do with the spirit and peace message of the Olympics.

But I am happy the profits will go towards developing amateur sports in Ireland. :)

I have to say, I wasn't exactly blown away by it. the melody is a bit awkward (but then most anthemsongs are :S ) and there wasn't anything in there that actually lifted me off my seat...Somehow Moya and the melody didn't mix very well to my ears...could be it was the meager youtube recording though. But....all in all, no, this song didn't cut it for me.

But I commend Moya for taking this step! It's pretty prolific in every way!!

Go Moya!!!!!!!!!

Love,
Phantas

I thought it was announced that the song would be released on iTunes (in Ireland) on 1 August. Nothing was said about whether it will be available for download in any other country.

Wow,.. this is a really nice, powerfull song! I like it..
It's a bit rockish, I'm not used to that, but it's still cool!

AWESOME.
I love it- go Moya, proving she can still overpower rock beats with that fantastic voice. I know one of the Irish athletes going and it's great to know he has such support cheering him on!!

loved to hear (and see) Moya sing a new song, but I find this song a bit "conventional"... It would not be my favourite... :?

Love it!!!

I was in Ireland last week, for a hiking trip with a group of lovely people. My roommate was from Dublin and we got on really well...Told her about our trip to Donegal last year and it turned out she is quite a fan of Enya's music and she also knew about Moya's music. Anyway, awkward moment came when she said to me "Oh I really like that song Moya did for the Olympics" And I was going like  eeeehm......what song?!?!?   Flipping frustrating internet connection!!! I missed this post and I didn't know about the song until she told me about it.   What a fan I am eh LOL

Ps: my internet is STILL NOT working though....they send me from the 'cupboard to the wall' as we say here in Holland...nobody can actually help me properly or tell me what is wrong...frustrates me to bits!

I love it too!! :D

Not sure who wrote the lyrics but I think they are really fitting and great. I thought the song suits Moya's voice very much - a bit different yes - but very nice and I liked the rock edge to the song too. (and I'm not really a 'rock' girl).

Well done Moya!! :P
