Sailor Jasmine just saw parrot eadgyth flying away with a lemon cookie in her beak. "Hey, come back - at once!" She tried to catch the parrot, but with no success. "Arrrrgh! Ok, I'll go in the ship's kitchen and look wether I find some lemon cookies there", she muttered.

'Seeing as this crew and it's parrots seems to have a slight obsession with food, might I offer the post of cook to someone?' Grania thought to herself.
"Perhaps Sandy, as you are always ready with cookies and tea for us?" :)

Did someone say cookies?? I'm on board!!
We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

The parrot sat on the topmast laughing its parrotty laugh at Sailor Jasmine, then flew down and settled on her shoulders for another trip to the kitchens. On they way she shot a glance at captain Grania and decided that in the future she would behave a little better and help her great captain. But in the future, at the moment the prospect of cookies was more important...

None of the crew seemed keen to go anywhere these days, which upset the captain and more active crew members a lot - as they were looking forward to travelling the world, but couldn't move the ship alone!!

The captain was doing some serious thinking about the problem at hand, but couldn't come up with a satisfying solution. While she still sat in her cabin pondering, a loud crash was heard from the direction in which the kitchen lay.
Parrot eadgyth had gotten too enthusiastic about the cookies and whilst trying to perch on top of the pot and opening the lid at the same time, she lost balance and toppled down with the lid still firmly in her claws. As soon as she had recovered from her shock (parrots don't fall) she tried to get from the scene of crime as soon as possible when....

The captain came striding out of her cabin and caught the naughty bird red clawed!

She brought the parrot up to eye level and looked at her hard, warning her that she would only punish her for the mess if she didn't listen carefully. The captain had decided to make sail with what little crew she had and to try and pick up some new crewmembers on the way instead.

Ready everyone?

So, they set off towards.....

...Namibia. This was the first mate's home and the talk about the warm weather was highly appealing to the remaining part of the crew, especially as with good winds they would be back in time for a landing party in Glasgow.
Luckily the winds had also changed and were blowing into the right direction. The captain was giving orders to set sail immediately.
Parrot Eadgyth the Far Sighted had been appointed look-out, since that would keep her buisy and far away from the kitchen and any cookies there might be around.

As time passes they find the land is unfamiliar, even with the help of the parrot's sharp eyes, so they send a landing party in a small sloop. Two volunteers, Clarissa and Claudia, come running up, eager to explore. The captain looks at the latter closely, :? "Don't I know you?"

"You might - the last time we met I was going to Dis, to buy a sweater, some wool trousers, and knitted mittens."

"Then you disappeared. I see you're wearing exactly those things, too. Why on earth do you need them here in the South Atlantic?"

"Well when we set out thought we we going North, where it's cold enough to chew your fingers off!"

"What did they charge you for all those clothes?"

"Ehm, let me see.... about forty pounds, I think."

"Oh dear! You were surely fleeced!"

Two hours later the sloop is sighted, labourously tacking out of the misty distance. The Captain orders the landing craft to be hoisted up.

Eagerly Clarissa and Claudia jump onto the deck.

"Captain!" they squeal, their eyes still shining in marvel.

The Captain appears on deck, asking, "So. What have you found out? Where in the world are we?"

"Look, Captain!" says Clarissa, "can it be a magic harp?"

After frowning over the instrument for maybe a minute :? the Captain says slowly, "Noooo...., but...... helpful. Yes. Helpful indeed. We now know of another trade route that runs through Pakistan! Well done, girls!"
