RULES FOR THE OFFICIAL MOYABRENNAN FORUM

Dear Forum Members,

Over the past few months our forum has welcomed many new members. Having such a large forum is wonderful but this also brings about its own problems.
Because we would like the forum to remain an open and friendly place we have felt the need to create some rules.
These rules are a general code for behaviour on the forum and for most of you they are probably unnessesary because you're living by them already.
These rules have been put in place mainly to protect our members from harmful people and to guide people who are uncertain about how to behave on the forum. They are also in place to help protect us from spammers.
Please do read the rules carefully and do not hesitate to contact any of the moderators if you have any questions or concerns!

Kind regards
Moya Brennan Forum admin

THE RULES

Names/ Avatars/ Signature

- Please use good judgement when choosing user names, avatars, and images to post.

- Signatures may not be more than 5 lines long, and are restricted to 255 characters by the board. You may include one image, but this must be no larger than 400x100 pixels.

- Avatars may be no larger that 100x100 pixels.

When posting

- Please refrain from provocation of any kind. Members that make posts that are deliberately designed to offend will be asked by a moderator to edit. Failure to comply will result in the offending post(s) being edited for you.

- Swearing will not be tolerated on this board whatsoever.

- Do not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, racist, hateful, threatening, and that otherwise violate any laws. This includes Private Messages (PMs), signatures and any other text on the forum.

- Please do not post copyrighted articles from elsewhere on the Internet. Post a link to the article instead; or alternatively, place a short excerpt from the article within a quote, state where the article has been obtained, and provide a link to the original source.

- Posts should be as relevant as possible to the discussion, with no spam and useless content. Please avoid use of minimal responses where possible, and remember that this is a forum - a place for discussion!

- Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other topics and see where your topic should go. If your topic is placed in the wrong forum, it will be moved by a moderator, sometimes without notice. If such notice is given, it will most likely be via PM.

- If a topic is recognised as being posted in the wrong forum, or if the post is a violation of our guidelines, then please contact a moderator either via PM or email; please do not respond publicly to the member - a site admin or a member of the moderating team will do what is required to correct the problem.

- While we do not wish to limit the number of emoticons that are used in posts, please be aware that the more that you use in one post, the harder it can be for our friends on dial-up to view those threads. Also, please remember that linking to online photos is preferred over posting the photo directly into your message.

- If you are linking to external content, you should link directly to that content. It is unacceptable to use link-thru systems to mask the originating URL, and cases where this is found to be happening may be edited or removed as deemed appropriate.

General behaviour

- You should be helpful and mindful of the needs of others.

- Personal attacks, unneccessary or unacceptable personal references, rudeness, insults to others, or arguments will not be tolerated either in the public forums or private messages. If you wish to challenge a member's point of view and opinions, then please do so respectfully and thoughtfully.
If you receive an abusive PM, please forward that PM to one of the admins; do NOT delete from your PM inbox untill you are told.

- Any impersonation of a member from these forums, in any mode of communication, is strictly prohibited and will result in a banning.

- Commercial advertising or selling is not permitted on this forum, with exceptions as approved by admin. We do, however, approve of linking to online stores that sell Brennan-related merchandise.

- Pornography, warez, or any other illegal transactions may NOT be linked in any shape or form.

- If you have a complaint about a moderator's actions, please contact the moderator in private. Do not ever display your complaints openly on the forum. If you feel direct contact with the moderator concerned is not possible, please contact another member of the moderator team. This moderator will assist you in discussing the problem openly with the moderator concerned.

- Users may not argue a moderator’s actions publicly. It is preferred that all complaints directed at a moderator must first address the moderator in question via PM. However, we are aware that some members may feel uncomfortable with this, and it is acceptable that the complaint may be directed at a third body, as long as 'gossiping' is not facilitated and the moderator in question is made aware of the discussion honestly and openly.

Action

We reserve the right to remove any topics we deem inappropriate or disruptive to our community. Please note that, from time to time, topics may be removed for being inappropriate even though your individual post in that topic may have been perfectly fine. Please do not feel this reflects badly on you.

Although violation of any of these rules will result in consequences determined on a case-by-case basis we reserve the right to issue warnings to users who, in our opinion, violate these rules. Following three (3) such warnings by Private Message we will have no alternative but to ban the user from participation in this forum if their behavior persists.

Users with posts or links of spam and/or porn or anything else we deem to be as offensive in nature (including within their profiles) might receive an instant ban or account deletion without warning or other communication.'

Thank you for visiting the Official Moya Brennan Forum, we hope you enjoy your stay.
