Admin- couldn't help noticing you were on the list... does this mean you'lll be joining us, or am I not meant to ask?

Yes - it is good isn't it?!!!

Actually, I must ask admin - how does this work? Can we only PM or e-mail each other? Or can we do other things as well? Just a question.

LOL- I didn't even think about that, it's a god question, G, how exactly does a usergroup work? I remember asking about it ages ago but I don't remember the response ( a head like a seive...)

Nessie, I think some things are best left as a surprise.

Otherwise... the usergroup thing seems cool.

Hi all,

Under this forum software (with which I am vaguely familiar), you can set up categories (the categories here are the ones headed "Moya's Forum", and "Forum Info".

Under each of those, you have forums Take the "Moya's Forum" for instance: the forums are "General", "Two Horizons", "Moya Live", etc. down to "Musicians and Writers".

When you click on any one of those forums, you get a list of topics, or threads, in that forum.

Now, here is how the "Usergroups" feature works.

It is possible for an Admin to set up a forum such that it is only visible to members of certain user groups. So those of us who are in the "gweedore" usergroup could be given access to a new forum called (for example) "Trip to Donegal".

Nobody outside the 'gweedore' group will be able to view that forum or post into it, which means everybody's privacy is protected should the need to share personal details arise. In particular, that forum will be invisible to unregistered guests.

Nice, eh?

I've been playing with this on my own site, and after having had more of a play may be in a position to advise on how to set this up. For now, take a look at the forums at Malware Removal; there is a whole category there called "Malware Removal University" that will not be visible to you, but is visible to me because of my usergroup over there.

I think Angoid, that is exactly what we would be looking for. But that is not the way it works for us now is it?

Well, I noticed that I was added to the usergroup ( admin apparently wants me to come too- maybe I could start a charity fund: 'get whistleplayer to Gweedore' )
But can we start the group forum or does admin have to do that?

Ok, so, let me get this straight cause computers and I don't get on very well. This "usergroup" is kind of a new, private forum for al those added to it- ie. the ones who are going to donegal? We can post things there that now one else can see?
Is that right?
If so- how do we post!?
Sorry for all the dumb questionsm, but I wanna try and get the hang of this ..

It's not a dumb question at all nessie - it's exactly what I was going to ask. I understand the rest of it - but that part of it I can't work out  Sorry if I'm being stupid.

Unfortunately I'm not at home right now, so I'll investigate this a bit more and post again probably tomorrow.

Watch this space :D
