Back from Donegal!

We had such a wonderful time there, we really enjoyed the beautiful landscape and the kindness of the Irish People!
Of course, we had a look into Leo's - we spent 6 evenings there and we had a lot of fun! Leo's is an amazing place full of good music and hospitality. Really, you feel welcome in this pub. We enjoyed two Trad-music-sessions and -of course- on Saturday Leo's singing, he is a brilliant entertainer and played his accordion for nearly 3 hours. A very special session was announced for a Wednesday: Noel and Padraig Duggan accompanied by a young lady from Dublin and a German harpist. Well, the pub was overcrowded on that evening. They played a lot of Gaelic-songs (I didn't understand one word but that didn't matter - the music was great!) Unfortunately, Moya wasn't there, that would have been the maximum luck!!! But we've seen her on TV in a documentation called "Corrigan knows food". They cooked Tandoori chicken and now I know that Moya loves spicy Indian food. :lol:
I'm sure it wasn't our last holiday in Donegal. We've fallen in love with this beautiful landscape and if it is God's will we'll see this part of Ireland once again!

Our trip to Donegal!

Postby martijn » Sun Jul 15, 2007 10:50 pm

We were in Ireland the first week of July and had a great time! The weather was good (if you like a lot of rain) and we had some great walks and drives in the beautiful Donegal county.

Out trip was a bit Moya-oriented:
- we stayed the first night in Auntie Brid's B&B:
* a very nice lady!
- we stayed for the next 5 nights in a cottage across the road from Leo's Tavern:
* check the last picture!
- we spend 3 evenings in Leo's Tavern:
* Saturday with Sing-a-Long with Leo
* Wednesday with the Duggans
* Thursday with traditional session
- we listened to a lot of Moya's music

Thanks for the pictures Martijn,
seems we've met there without noticing each other! I've recognized the right back of my blouse on one of your pics. Funny! But also a pity I didn't know that a further forummer was there, maybe we could have had a drink together and talked a bit. Well, maybe we'll meet again sometime at Leo's.

Hester,
wish you a wonderful time in Donegal. Try to visit Bloody Foreland during a sunset! It's amazing!
