well i never realized that enya likes to talk about herself. she loves to talk about her music. if you become to private she just smiles and says nothing at all. of course she knows she has to tell at least a little of herself. but i remember a quote of nicky ryan: "enya would kill me, if i'd say anything about her private life!"

I think that it might be because of moya's bad experience with the press. when the press made moya's life even harder, enya possibly decided that she will never allow the press to do the same with her life.

To be honest, I'm a bit afraid that it won't be available here...

as the last albums of moya were available here in switzerland, i'm not worried that i can't get the new one here. same goes for germany. she has just to many fans in germany to not release her album there.

I don't know; I guess that's part of the mystery about Enya - also one of the reasons why everyone keeps buying her albums; because she's such a mysterious person, you know... Almost elfish, actually. Anyway, I can understand her decision to not say anything about her personal life perfectly well; these days, the press is so keen on twisting everything an artist says. Although sometimes I really wonder what she's like, you know; when you know a bit more about an artist, it makes him/her more "human", to my opinion. I mean, what does anyone really know about Eithne? One of the things that keeps me puzzled is why she's not married (as far as we know, of course...); she's such a beautiful woman!
Anyhow; I think that's one of the reasons why I'm more drawn to Moya these days - she's so much more open than her sister. One can really relate to her; that way, one can also really "get" her music, you know (especially the Christian albums)... Ah, she's the best :-)

Album Cover

Postby randyj » Wed Oct 12, 2005 3:14 pm

The reason I don't like the album cover is that it distracts from the message of the album especially as described by Moya:

“I’ve been involved in number of other people’s Christmas projects in recent years but I wanted to capture a truly Celtic Christmas feeling”, explains Moya, “Its always important to bring the meaning of Christmas to the fore. It is the essence of what I believe in and the album offers both celebration and reflection on that familiar theme. ”

The meaning of Christmas is the birth of Christ :D , which doesn't jive with the imagery of the cover.

what would you take then? a pic with maria and joseph under the star? you know then a lot of people not knowing moya wouldn't buy it. and some really serious believers would object that this saints have nothing to do with any "popmusic" and that it would be a shame and so on and so on.

i think it's better like it is.

Well, I could not have said it better myself, my sentiments exactly. And welcome to the forum Randyj !! :P

And I don't think Randyj means to say that there should be a picture of Mary and Joseph under a star (correct me if I am wrong) just something that would capture the spirit of Christmas (in Moya's own original way). At least, that's how I interpreted it. And I agree totally!

Anyway, something different now: Greg has posted some links from online shops with several releasedates (thanks for all your info, Greg!). How do we know which is the correct one. I am surpised that I haven't seen Love Came Down on any Dutch online shop (they are usually quite early) or on Amazon, for example. I would like to order it, but unfortunately this is not possible. Perhaps Furious is a small label and that's the reason..? Does anyone know??

Love,

Suzanne

You're welcome, everyone, for the info I found.

Sadly, I don't know which release dates are true and which are not. The official press release does say the release date is 17 October, but Moya's site says it will be released in November. HOWEVER, this website says the album WILL BE AVAILABLE ON 17 OCTOBER.

Also, some more EXTREMELY exciting news: On Moya's "Solo Albums" page, under the Credits for this album, we find that Aisling and Paul do vocals with Moya on Oíche Chúin! We also find that Tim plays Keyboards, and that Maire Breatnach guests with Viola and Fiddle!

Enjoy...

If it's October 17th (WHICH IS NEXT MONDAY.....) why can't I find it anywhere here???? It should be mentioned on more online shops. This is all very confusing. I remember saying a little while ago that I was so happy about the clarity about Moya's album: all the info we were getting at such an early stage.. But now...????? Oh well, we will know SOME time

That's great news indeed. It's nice that Moya included her family in the work. I'd really love to her her children sing! It's another reason to look forward the album.

I also appreciate the news, Greg.

I am also excited to hear the entire Oíche Chúin track. I also think that it is neat that she is involving her children like that.

I don't think that I am going to like either sisters' version better than another. They would both be different, but I would say that one is better than another.

I'm very curious to hear her do a whole christian album again :D And it's true; I think you have to hear the whole album - perhaps a couple of times - to really appreciate it. When Two Horizons was released and I listened to the audio samples on this site, I must say that I wasn't very much impressed. But when I got my hands on the whole album, it continued to grow on me and now it's my favorite Moya-album! :)

Though this isn't the first time, namely, on Moya's "Whisper to The Wild Water" album she has Paul narrating cuts from a Gaelic version of the St. Francis of Assisi's prayer which Moya then sings in English... Sounds so sweet!!

I am a practicing Christian--but I do not mind the album cover. It is always going to be hard to try and "reflect" one person's idea of appropriate religious or seasonal imagery as opposed to another person's. So...I think it is a lovely cover and very intriguing.

I will say, however, that the label that is releasing this album has not done a very good job of being clear on the matter of dates or how to order...I will probably just order it through one of the Christian sites. however, I live in the US, so i would prefer to order it locally to avoid higher costs...yet, I cannot see whether it is even possible to do that or if it will be released in the US.

Now that I saw a bigger picture of the new album cover on the Clannad newsblog, I'm even a bit more confused. The brown stuff on the right hand side of the picture (of which I though it was cables  ) seems to be twigs.
A person in white dress lies on the floor next to some twigs? - It must be symbol I don't understand.
