 You guys are brilliant

I might have to compare those, and mix them up a little, it's very difficult to get it all right - especially to get it to fit the tune. Thanks so much for all your help!!! :D

Your welcome :) Anything for such a good friend :) :)

(attempt at songwriting again)

Be With Me

Caught in here
the maelstrom of tears
how to find my way home?

Caught out there
You could be anywhere
How long till you are with me?

Hear my voice
Calling
Hear my heart
Beating
When will you find me...?
I long so for you...

Persisting through
I long for you
How far from home?

Seeking out
I'm without doubt
When will you be with me?

Hear my voice
Calling
Hear my heart
Beating
When will you find me...?
I long so for you...

Now...I hear your voice...calling
Now...I hear your heart...beating
only for me, only for me
Through the storm
Through the tears
Fight the world and fight the fears
We will be together...forever!

Hear my voice
Calling
Hear my heart
Beating

Only for you
Only for you

When will you find me...?
I long so for you...

Yes, twice even ;) But we didn't have a camera with us at the other time, this picture was taken on her latest concert in Rotterdam :) Where Clannad was also present!

Here's something I wrote after not writing anything for about a year I guess  Felt like writing something again; the rain was pouring out of the sky and I was bored XD I wrote it in Dutch, but I translated it to English for the ones who can't read Dutch (though I'm sure the translation kind of sucks 8)):

Stilte Na De Storm

Regen valt neer in mistige vlagen
Een flits verlicht het vlakke land
Menigeen begint weer te klagen
Ach, tsja, het is Nederland

Weinigen zullen zich nu buiten wagen
Maar hoor de wind nu toch eens blazen
De hemel zal even wat dagen
Waarna donker weer zal razen

Een stortvloed van water op water
Geweld van neerdalend geluid
Voor sommigen als lieflijk geklater
Heeft de natuur weer eens beduid

Dat Zij boven alles het krachtigst is
Schoonheid en geweld gaan gepaard
Wanneer het zal eindigen blijft een gis
Geen boom of blad blijft gespaard

Rust zal echter altijd wederkeren

The english one :):

Silence After The Storm

Rain falls down in misty gusts
A flash lights up the flat land
Many a man starts complaining again
Ah, well, it’s the Netherlands

Few will dare to go outside now
But just hear the wind blow
The sky will clear a bit for a moment
After which dark shall tear again

A downpour of water on water
Violence of descending sound
For some like sweet rattling
Has nature pointed out again

That She is the most powerful above all
Beauty and violence go coupled
When it will end remains a guess
No tree or leaf will be spared

Rest however shall always return
Overflow the land with sunlight
Let the world be in silence
The clouds have given in to the sun

You hear dripping green everywhere
The ground steaming in sunshine
For this many beauty you have to do nothing
And there will never be anything more beautiful

That's a beautiful poem, Marlies, I love it. I even understood a little bit of the Dutch one, and as far as I can tell, the translation is really good too.
You have a very visual way of telling things, and you turned a storm into a really poetic and beautiful thing :) .

E_S - I liked it too, read it some time ago but didn't have time, then forgot about it until recently. When I read it both Tempus Vernum and Deora Ar Mo Chroí (in that combination) by Enya came to mind....they would make a musical underscore to your poem. From a storm to the calmness, and silence of the afterglow.

Lovely!

We certainly have a lot of talent here!

I took a poetry course this past semester so I'll have to put some things up. I'm also attempting to do a section of my dissertation on John Donne with my own poetry, "The Unholy Sonnets" based off of the "Holy Sonnets of John Donne". I hate to say my Iambic Pentameter is... hm... we're working on it. ;)

Missing you

We met once, last year
I didn’t know what to say
You spilled your heart out
I didn’t know what to say
News, you were leaving

Gone, not here anymore Goodbyes, tears, cries
We turned around,
Don’t look back
I’m missing you,
dear friend

Sorry for posting twice in a row, but I have a question.
Some of you here helped me with the translation of a peom I wrote for a friend, but not everyone here has read it...
Does anyone want to read it? I'll post it then... :)
